For customers that are not coming by car, we offer complementary pick up and drop off service from and to the Hakuba Train Station or the Happo Bus Terminal. (If you a coming from or going to a different place in Hakuba, please enquire.)
Just let us know
– which bus or train you will be taking
– the number of guests arriving at that time
– the amount of luggage you have with you
and our staff will meet you to take you to the property for check-in.
However, please note that this will be offered on a first-come first-served basis and this needs to be arranged at the latest by noon (12:00pm) on the day before your arrival or departure. Also, this service is offered at check-in/check-out only during our check-in/check-out hours (15:00-20:00pm/8:00-10:00am), and it will be only one pick up/drop off per booking, plus we may have to do several runs per check-in depending on the number of guests and the amount of luggage you have.
Choose from one of five ways to get to Hakuba from Tokyo. We recommend the bullet train + bus route; however, the bus is the most economical if you’re on a budget.
Bullet Train + Bus from Nagano to Hakuba
Take a bullet train from Tokyo Station to Nagano Station and transfer to the bus from Nagano to Hakuba. This is the fastest way to reach Hakuba from Tokyo. The estimated time for the bullet train and bus are 3 hours.
- Take the Shinkansen (bullet train) from Tokyo or Ueno to Nagano Station. Check with Jorudan or Google Maps for precise times, fares, and platform numbers. You can reserve tickets using the JR East online reservation system or Rakuten Travel.
- At Nagano Station, go to the east exit and find bus stop #26. The bus bound for Hakuba destinations leaves roughly every hour from 8:20 to 20:00. Please check Nagano to Hakuba for the bus timetable.
- Please remember that the last departing bus to Hakuba from Nagano Station is at 20:30, and you have no public transport options to Hakuba after this time besides the metered taxis bookable via the Uber or Go Taxi app.
Tokyo to Hakuba Train
There is no Tokyo to Hakuba bullet train, but a daily direct Azusa Express train from Shinjuku to Hakuba. Estimated time: 3 hours 40 minutes
- Azusa 5: Leaves daily at 8:00 from Shinjuku Station (platform 9) and goes directly to Hakuba Station, arriving at 11:40.
- Azusa 38: The only direct train (no switching) leaving Hakuba daily at 13:41 and arriving at Shinjuku Station at 17:25.

- The ride is 5 hours without traffic, with two rest stops. During holidays and weekend commuting times, be prepared for delays.
- The bus terminal is directly connected to the JR Shinjuku Station New South Gate or across the street from the South exit. For precise times and fares, please check with highwaybus.com. The Bus departs from the 4F and arrives on the 3F.
Tokyo to Hakuba Taxi
Another alternative is a chartered taxi. The number of taxi companies offering service to Hakuba has increased in the past few years, making it much easier to get door-to-door private chauffeured service.
Sakura Transfer, Shoushin Taxi, Nagano Luxury Taxi, Luxury Fleet Taxi, Chuo Taxi or Alpico Taxi.
Car Rental from Tokyo to Hakuba
Rent a car in Tokyo and drive to Hakuba. Estimated time and cost: 3 h 30 min; rate depends on car size. Nissan Rent A Car or Toyota Rent a Car are recommended. Tolls will need to be considered if you drive to Hakuba.
Please remember that if you are coming to Hakuba in the wintertime, you will need to reserve a 4WD with winter tires.
In winter, there is a bus stop for the free ski shuttles in walking distance to get to ski resorts, and you also have easy access to the restaurants, bars and cafes in Hakuba Goryu. However, it is very useful to have a car to assist your ability to get to the other ski resorts, shops etc if required.
In addition, we offer pick up and drop off service from and to the train station/bus terminal in Hakuba at check-in/out, as well as rides to the supermarkets for grocery shopping during your stay (this is an on demand service that you can book from the day before you want to go), so it is possible to get around in Hakuba without a car.
Taxis are also available in Hakuba
However in summer, since there are no shuttles, we strongly recommend you to have a car for your stay.
